Angband is an incredibly immersive and exciting dungeon-crawling game. It has all the elements of a classic RPG, with a great variety of monsters, enemy wizards, and powerful dragons to battle. An unusually detailed and rather challenging single-player dungeon adventure game. Based on Dungeons of Moria, Angband is strongly Tolkien-influenced, but also includes much Dungeons and Dragons material. It focuses on exploration and character development; there is in fact no plot and only one great quest: to find and defeat Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
Perhaps Angband's strongest suit is the enormous variety of variants it has inspired.
